Learn and practice CMD, PowerShell, and Linux commands in a simulated terminal. Progressive challenges from beginner to advanced with guided hints and explanations.
Command Lab is an interactive terminal simulator for learning and practicing CMD, PowerShell, and Linux/Bash commands. Work through progressive challenge modules that simulate a real terminal environment: type a command, press Enter, and get immediate feedback on whether it is correct along with a plain-English explanation of what the command does and why it matters for security work.
Command line proficiency is one of the most valued but least taught skills in cybersecurity education. GUI tools abstract away the underlying commands, but in an actual incident response engagement, a real threat hunt, or a penetration test, you need to be fast and accurate at the command line. The Command Lab provides deliberate practice in a safe, browser-based environment where mistakes do not cost you anything.
The Linux/Bash track covers file system navigation, text processing (grep, awk, sed), user and permission management, network investigation (ss, lsof, netstat), log analysis, process monitoring, and advanced threat hunting commands. The PowerShell track covers the Windows administration commands used in both defensive and offensive security: process enumeration, event log querying, registry manipulation, and network investigation. The CMD track covers the Windows command line used in basic administration and lateral movement scenarios.
